Baumar Honeycomb Wall
The side wall of the Baumar building displays a striking honeycomb mural designed and painted by Steve himself. Local muralists and street artists have contributed to the wall by painting or stenciling within individual honeycomb cells, giving this beautiful piece a unique, interactive, community-oriented twist.
Here is Steve with his work in progress.
A Creative Collaboration

An Eye for Detail
These hyper-realistic honeybees exemplify Steve's gorgeous, meticulous freehand work.
Education and Experience
Steve has married his fine arts education with years of finishing know-how to become a formidable mural artist.
20 Mission Hive Honeycomb
The folks at 20 Mission Hive were so impressed with Steve's Baumar honeycomb that they asked him to do one on their shop front. Here is the work in progress.
Family Business
The 20 Mission Hive Honeycomb in a more completed state. Steve's youngest son Paul Bauer did the honeycomb detail on the trim, freehand.
Doggie Diner Sphinx
This striking and playful piece occupies a wall perpendicular to the original Honeycomb mural. Combining a San Francisco icon (the Doggie Diner Head) with the timeless Egyptian Sphinx, it's surreal, humorous, and beautifully executed.
Working with Texture
Steve's finishing instincts served him well when working on the very rough surface of this particular wall. This difficult texture might have been daunting to a less seasoned artist, but Steve understood how his subject matter, from the stone of the Sphinx to the fluffy clouds in the background, would meld with it perfectly.
